How is a delivery box kept cold?
For orders which are shipped by courier we have two parcel box options.
Standard Shipping Box
This is a fully biodegradable corrugated cardboard box, lined with biodegradable wool sheets plus added super low temperature gel ice for frozen food (gel liquid is biodegradable/plastic pouch is recyclable). With gel ice the box will hold meat frozen for a minimum of 24 hours, and can keep it frozen for up to 48 hours depending on the air temperature outside the box.
Optional Polystyrene box
This is 25mm thick polystyrene box, lined with biodegradable wool sheets plus added super low temperature gel ice (gel liquid is biodegradable/plastic pouch is recyclable) With gel ice this box will hold meat frozen for 48 hours.
We have tested both options and the polystyrene box option will keep meat frozen while in transit for a longer duration. We offer these as an optional extra at a subsidised price, and we strongly recommend that customers buying Quick Frozen meat add this optional extra.
Chilled products will be refrigerated with frozen hydrated ice (not gel ice)
